Investigation of Superhydrophobic/Hydrophobic Materials Properties Using Electrospinning Technique

Abstract: The aim of this research is to study the surface alteration characteristics and surface morphology of the superhydrophobic/hydrophobic nanocomposite coatings prepared by an electrospinning method to coat various materials such as glass and metal. This is considered as a low cost method of fabrication for polymer solutions of Polystyrene (PS), Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) and Silicone Rubber (RTV). Si were prepared in various wt% of composition for each solutions. Contact angle measurement, surface tension, vi… Show more

“…The viscosity of the polymer and polymer concentration was found to be crucial factors in determining the morphological properties of the fibres. 42,45,46 A pilot study determined the optimal polymer concentrations to mix with different barium titanate concentrations to achieve pore sizes and fibre diameters suitable for osteoblast and regenerative bone cells needed for bone healing and regeneration. Beads, rather than uniform fibres, were observed when the polymer concentration was 10% W/V PCL.…”

“…One is to build a rough micronanostructure on the surface of the material with low surface energy, and the other is to add a low surface energy material modification on the rough surface. The existing mature preparation methods of superhydrophobic materials include the etching method [61,62], template method [63,64], spraying method [65,66], solution soaking method [67][68][69], sol-gel method [70], electrospinning method [71,72], electrochemical deposition method [73,74], and phase separation method [75], among others.…”
