Medicinal herbs after their harvesting participate in heat exchange with the environmental, as does each organic and hygroscopic material. Drying helps to conserve the medicinal raw material with the maximal preservation of its quality. The present investigation deals with the influence of the surrounding air factors (temperature and relative humidity) on drying intensity. The study object was aboveground part of hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis L.), i.e. Hyssopi herba was used as medicinal raw material. The aim of the study was to offer a mathematical model of time-related medicinal herbs moisture dynamics and to show its qualitative agreement with the physical model of diffusion as well as to determine the optimum ventilation intensity of medicinal herbs. Drying of Hyssopi herba using active ventilation was investigated. Ventilation intensity and the parameters of the drying agent influenced the processes of moisture dynamics, the total drying time and the quality of Hyssopi herba. The basic prerequisites of the drying process have been analysed. A mathematical model of moisture dynamics has been proposed and used to show the dependence of theoretical moisture dynamics on ventilation velocity. The obtained experimental values of moisture content dynamics during the drying of Hyssopi herba have been shown to agree with theoretical dependences.

Since the world became industrialized, our environment has been changed, bringing different environmental issues. The world benefits from industrialization but suffers from diverse pollutions simultaneously. Therefore, we are motivated to investigate the environment and landscape management explorations by analyzing 403 papers published in the Journal of Environmental Engineering and Landscape Management (JEELM) from 2007 to 2019. As one of the scientific journals that investigate environment management, JEELM mainly focuses on the area of environmental changes caused by human activities. By analyzing the issues such as atmosphere, water, and soil pollution and their mitigation technologies, JEELM accepts the scientific outputs written in English. Based on the data retrieved from Web of Science, we provide an overview of the status quo and emerging trends of the researches published on JEELM. Diverse researches such as publication distribution, citation structure, co-citation analysis and key contributors on the aspects of countries, institutions, and authors are given to comprehensively analyze the current situation of JEELM’s. Besides, the emerging trends and hot spots can be revealed by burst detection and timeline view. Therefore, this paper contributes to providing a general picture of the knowledge domain of JEELM’ research which enables researchers, especially the beginners to learn about this journal’s development.

The present paper reports the results obtained by investigation of surface bottom sediment contamination with Cu, Zn, Ni, Pb, Cr, Cd, Hg in three largest semi-closed bays of Klaipėda Port in 2008 and 2009. The concentrations of heavy metals and organic carbon same as the percentages of 6 granular fractions were determined at 41 stations. The contamination level was established by calculating the Nemerov's pollution index. The major factors responsible for sediment contamination with heavy metals and distribution patterns of discrete pollutants and different pollution areas were determined. By comparison of the obtained results with the results of 1998, the changes of sediment contamination with heavy metals in the last ten years were evaluated. It was determined that bottom sediments not contaminated with heavy metals are dominant in the semi-closed bays of Klaipėda port. Heavy contamination with nickel, and moderate contamination with zinc and copper only occur in small areas.
