Investigation of residual stress and mechanical properties of equal channel angular rolled St12 strips

Abstract: Equal channel angular rolling process is defined as a severe plastic deformation method that imposes very large plastic strain on a material in order to enhance its mechanical properties and grain structure refinement. In this study, residual stress profiles through the thickness of St12 strips that were subjected to different passes of equal channel angular rolling were investigated by slitting method. Also, the effects of different routes of equal channel angular rolling (A and C) were studied on the mechani… Show more

“…[11][12][13] There are a number of methods which have been used for residual stress measurement of FSWed joints, in this regard, Papahn et al 14 used ultrasonic waves, Lombardi et al 15 employed neutron diffraction, and Oliveira et al 16 employed X-ray diffraction known as nondestructive techniques. Destructive techniques methods for measuring residual stresses such as slitting method, [17][18][19][20] hole drilling, 21,22 and contour method 23 have been used.…”

“…[7][8][9] In recent years, SPD techniques are widely applied in producing the UFG structures in bulk metallic alloys. [10][11][12][13][14] Equal channel angular pressing (ECAP), 15,16 high pressure torsion (HPT), equal channel angular rolling (ECAR), [18][19][20] constrained groove pressing, [21][22][23][24][25] non-equal channel angular pressing 26 and cyclic close die forging (CCDF) 27 are some of the SPD processes which have been recently investigated.…”
