The mass splitting of elliptic anisotropy (v2) at low transverse momentum is considered as a hallmark of hydrodynamic collective flow. We investigate A Multi-Phase Transport (AMPT) model where the v2 is mainly generated by an anisotropic escape mechanism, not of the hydrodynamic flow nature, and where mass splitting is also observed. We demonstrate that the v2 mass splitting in AMPT is small right after hadronization (especially when resonance decays are included); the mass splitting mainly comes from hadronic rescatterings, even though their contribution to the overall charged hadron v2 is small. These findings are qualitatively the same as those from hybrid models that combine hydrodynamics with a hadron cascade. We further show that there is no qualitative difference between heavy ion collisions and small system collisions. Our results indicate that the v2 mass splitting is not a unique signature of hydrodynamic collective flow and thus cannot distinguish whether the elliptic flow is generated mainly from hydrodynamics or the anisotropic parton escape.PACS numbers: 25.75.-q, 25.75.Ld

In this paper, we study and predict flow observables in 2.76 and 5.02 A TeV Pb + Pb collisions, using the iEBE-VISHNU hybrid model with TRENTo and AMPT initial conditions and with different forms of the QGP transport coefficients. With properly chosen and tuned parameter sets, our model calculations can nicely describe various flow observables in 2.76 A TeV Pb + Pb collisions, as well as the measured flow harmonics of all charged hadrons in 5.02 A TeV Pb + Pb collisions. We also predict other flow observables, including v n ( p T ) of identified particles, eventby-event v n distributions, event-plane correlations, (normalized) symmetric cumulants, non-linear response coefficients and p T -dependent factorization ratios, in 5.02 A TeV Pb + Pb collisions. We find many of these observables to remain approximately the same values as the ones in 2.76 A TeV Pb + Pb collisions. Our theoretical studies and predictions could shed light to the experimental investigations in the near future.

Anisotropic flow is an important observable to study the properties of the hot and dense matter, the Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP), created in heavy-ion collisions. Measurements of anisotropic flow for inclusive and identified charged hadrons are reported in Pb-Pb, p-Pb and pp collisions with the ALICE detector. The comparison of experimental measurements to various theoretical calculations are also presented in these proceedings. IntroductionThe study of anisotropic flow in relativistic heavy collisions at RHIC suggested that the produced system is described as a strongly coupled quarkgluon plasma (sQGP) [1]. Recent anisotropic flow measurements at the LHC indicate that the system created in Pb-Pb collisions at √ s NN = 2.76TeV also behaves as a strongly interacting liquid [2]. Meanwhile, additional constraints on the value of shear viscosity over entropy density ratio η/s are obtained by studying the anisotropic flow of identified particles. The most pronounced component of anisotropic flow is second order harmonic, called elliptic flow v 2 .
