Investigation of polymer dynamics in chitosan-maghemite nanocomposites: a potential green superparamagnetic material

Abstract: Magnetic composites with superparamagnetic properties have attracted great scientific interest recently. In this article we have investigated chitosan-maghemite (γ-Fe 2 O 3 ) nanocomposite. We have analyzed the effect of temperature and the concentration of maghemite nanoparticles upon the relaxation behaviour of the nanocomposite using Broad band dielectric spectroscopy (BDS). Additionally, various characterization techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infra red spectra (FTIR), Scannin… Show more

“…Figure 3 a shows the N 2 adsorption/desorption isotherms for the Fe 3 O 4 /SiO 2 microspheres and p-Fe 3 O 4 /SiO 2 microspheres etched with oxalic acid with different times. All the isotherms are type IV adsorption isotherms, as defined by IUPAC [ 30 ]. The BET surface area of the Fe 3 O 4 /SiO 2 microspheres without oxalic acid etching was 32.9 m 2 /g.…”

“…The support containing chitosan can retain more than 80% of immobilized enzyme activity after a number Printed in Brazil www.abeq.org.br/bjche of hydrolytic cycles (Chiou & Wu, 2004;Romdhane, Romdhane, Gargouri, & Belghith, 2011). Furthermore, a maghemite coated chitosan was light, exhibited enhanced tensile strength, high flexibility with tunable magnetic and electrical properties (Saravanan & Ramasamy, 2016).…”
