Abstract: Abstract. Fibre-reinforced ceramics have a higher fracture toughness compared to monolithic ceramics. Therefore, they are an attractive material for lightweight structural components in high-temperature applications. The liquid-silicon infiltration (LSI) process is a cost-efficient manufacturing route for fibre-reinforced ceramics consisting of three processing steps.
