Investigation of load modulated inverse Class-F power amplifier with extended conduction angle

Abstract: A novel design space of load modulated (LM) inverse Class‐F power amplifiers (PAs) with extended conduction angle is proposed. The effects of the driven level factor β and the biasing operation factor ρ on the third‐harmonic generation are discussed. The harmonic generation mechanism shows that the knee voltage effects are the source of third‐harmonics for LM inverse Class‐F PAs. The definition of the inverse Class‐F mode is consistently valid under the circumstance of load modulation in a limited output power… Show more

“…This signifies deep class-AB operation, and was chosen to avoid gain reduction as observed in class-B bias conditions. 11 Subsequently, large signal continuous wave (CW) measurement was performed with an input power of 30 dBm (1 W). The measured results and I-V waveforms are plotted in Figure 5C.…”

“…At stability, the transistor draws a drain current of 65.32 mA at a gate voltage of V GS = − 2.82 V and drain voltage of V DS = 28 V . This signifies deep class‐AB operation, and was chosen to avoid gain reduction as observed in class‐B bias conditions 11 . Subsequently, large signal continuous wave (CW) measurement was performed with an input power of 30 dBm (1 W).…”

“…The rapid development of modern communication systems puts forward higher requirements on the efficiency and linearity of the broadband power amplifier (PA) in the transmitter 1,2 . In the scenario of signal transmission with high peak‐to‐average power ratio (PAPR), the efficiency of PA at power back‐off (PBO) is urgently required to be enhanced.…”
