Investigation of Host-Guest Inclusion Complexes of Cyclodextrin Molecules with a Biologically Potent Molecule by Physicochemical Approach

Abstract

The host-guest interaction of L-Cystine as a guest with α and β cyclodextrins as hosts have been investigated. FTIR study bear witness to the formation of inclusion complexes. The host-guest interaction has been explained on the basis of supramolecular interactions and special structure of cyclodextrin. SEM studies show the change in morphology and SEM-EDS indicate the change in the elemental composition upon inclusion complexation. DLS experiments show the change in hydrodynamic diameter upon insertion of the amino acid inside the core of cyclodextrins. The DSC thermogram indicates more complexation of L-Cystine with β-CYD rather than with -CYD. To assess the initial applicability in the field of medical science toxicity study on beneficial microorganisms were also performed.
