Las inundaciones de las áreas agrícolas y viviendas del caserío de Cañasbamba representa un problema debido al desbordamiento de las aguas de la quebrada Milagros en temporadas de precipitaciones extremas. En esta investigación, el objetivo es determinar las áreas de inundación por ocurrencia de avenidas máximas en la subcuenca Milagros. Mediante la modelización hidrológico con HEC-HMS 4.9 se ha obtenido caudales extremos de 9 – 11 – 13,4 – 16,9 y 20 m3/seg para periodos de retorno de 50 – 100 – 200 - 500 y 1000 años respectivamente. Se realizó el trabajo de campo para obtener información topográfica, reológica y coeficiente de rugosidad. Teniendo los hidrogramas de avenidas y la información de campo, se procedió al modelamiento hidráulico con FLO-2D para flujos hiperconcentrados, donde los resultados mostraron que las profundidades máximas alcanzadas por el flujo son de 1,81 – 2,04 – 2,18 – 2,35 y 2,50 m para los periodos de retorno de antes mencionados. Se ha determinado las áreas de inundación en el caserío de Cañasbamba de 3,43 – 3,80 – 4,13 – 4,60 y 5,23 Ha para los cinco periodos de retorno indicados.
