Investigation of EMF Exposure Level for Uplink and Downlink of 5G Network Using Ray Tracing Approach

Abstract: To provide enhanced mobile services, the 5G system is expected to further densify its network infrastructure and scale up the deployment of massive antenna arrays that emit highenergy beams using the millimeter wave spectrum. These radically new features will significantly impact the EMF exposure level in the 5G networks. In this paper, EMF exposure for 5G mobile networks in a dense urban environment is investigated using a raytracing approach for the uplink (UL) and downlink (DL). A massive multi-input multi-… Show more

“…This, along with the need for better performance anomaly detection, motivate us to set up the experiment and conduct a performance evaluation. Despite of extensive research has been done in the effort of modeling and simulating the behavior of telecommunication network (Salem et al, 2022;Tan et al, 2022;Lukman et al, 2022), telecommunication operators need real platform to conduct more realistic experiment and measurement, and identify unexpected or anomalous result. To conduct anomaly detection research ideally on cellular telecommunications networks, a realistic research environment representing the actual condition is preferred.…”

“…The use of higher frequencies for arranging in 5G networks must also be considered. This unique and complicated radiation pattern of the 5G-BS antenna results from distinct propagation and diffraction conditions caused by such frequencies [10,16]. The pattern should include an envelope of all radio beams that have been emitted.…”
