Investigation of Dynamic Mechanical Behavior of Nanosilica Filled Carbon-Kevlar-Epoxy Polymer Hybrid Nanocomposite

Abstract: Reinforcement of epoxy-carbon-Kevlar fabric composite with the addition of nanosilica has resulted in the evolution of new hybrid polymer nanocomposite, which results in the improved mechanical properties of polymer hybrid nanocomposite. The current investigation concentrated on the dynamic mechanical behavior of unfilled and nanosilica filled carbon-Kevlar-epoxy polymer composite with five and four layers of carbon and Kevlar woven fibers respectively with epoxy matrix (5C4K). Nanosilica was mixed into the ep… Show more

“…In synthesis, the mechanical property data for nano silica-glass Fiber-Reinforced Polymer Composite (NS-GFRPC) retraces the trends evident in prior instances. The compressive strength and modulus variances tied to nano silica content remain consistent, while strain at fracture escalates until a threshold and diminishes beyond [23], [28]. These patterns underscore the pronounced influence of nano silica on composite performance and the indispensability of refined composite formulations in attaining the desired mechanical attributes [17].…”

“…Currently, nanosilica is used in various applications, especially in cement [20,21] and polymer industries [22,23]. Furthermore, nanosilica from SCBA can be utilised to absorb methylene blue (MB), which is a cationic thiazine dye that is harmful to human and environment [24], and to remove heavy metals [25] which are commonly found in textile industry effluents.…”
