“…Microalgal growth was assessed by analysis of liberated chlorophyll-a following centrifugation and addition of MeOH (100%). The released chlorophyll-a was quantified using a fluorometric method described by Chambers et al 60 The lowest concentration yielding a decrease in chlorophyll-a content was defined as the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) for algal growth. Microalgal adhesion was determined in a similar manner in which the non-attached algal cells were gently removed prior to addition of 100 µL of 100% methanol to release chlorophyll-a from the remaining algal biofilms.…”
