The authors of the article have developed the computer application allows to determine the value of the friction coefficient λ and anti-turbulent additives efficiency with a high degree of accuracy. The program can be used in the calculations and design of oil pipelines. The paper presents experimental studies of the effect anti-turbulent additives on the magnitude of pressure losses during fluid movement through pipes. The data gained by the developed computer program has been proved by the data of practical application of additives in the real oil pipeline transportation system called Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean oil pipeline.

This work proposes a technique for the controlled incorporation of nanoinclusions into a polymer matrix, which, as expected, will help resolve the contradiction in the requirements asked of polymer film coats, that is, good adhesion and above‐average tribological properties, including the high wear resistance. The study introduces and puts to the test an approach by performing the controlled incorporation of fullerene‐like nanoinclusions. The results of experimental verification, that is, the tribological profile of resultant nanocomposite were presented. It was found that a polyacetal matrix reinforced with the fullerene‐like nanoinclusions demonstrated a more stable behavior in tribological tests. These polymer films showed slightly lower coefficients of friction. This result can be considered successful and promising; without changing the nanocomposite composition, a tribological enhancement was achieved by manipulating the nanoparticle distribution within the polymer matrix. This study sought to create a three‐dimensional structure of nanoinclusions, specifically a graphite‐like hexagonal structure, that is, “columns” with a height equal to the film thickness and located at the nodes of the hexagonal lattice. The research concept was experimentally verified by comparing polymer films with a different distribution of nanoinclusions integrated into them. The filler fractions were 2 wt% in all films regardless of nanoparticle distribution. A polymer film with a uniform distribution of nanoinclusions was regarded as a baseline. A film with an ordered arrangement of nanoinclusions showed a 40% greater wear resistance (the number of cycles to film fragmentation) and a 39% lower coefficient of friction.

Energy War Strategies: The 21st Century Experience

The purpose of this study was to identify the potential initiators of energy wars and determine their boundaries of influence through the prism of energy dependency. The study also evaluated the impact of energy resources on the economic development of 48 countries. The development priorities of those countries were substantiated through establishing the linkage between energy intensity and indicators reflecting the impact of energy resources on economic development. The study offered an energy dependence matrix, which shows which market players can actively participate in energy wars. Using data from the matrix and integrative analysis of energy dependence indicators, the energy dependence forecast was made. The forecast presents optimistic, realistic, and pessimistic scenarios for the short-term (up to 2025) and long-term (up to 2030) impacts of energy wars. The study proposes a novel approach to assessing the impact of energy wars, which implies that the consequences of energy-induced conflict should be evaluated based on forecasted and threshold values. The major threat to the global energy market was found to be political instability in energy-rich countries. The proposed methodological approach is suitable for all groups of countries and allows preventing negative consequences of energy wars through minimizing the level of energy dependence.
