In this paper, the authors propose a method for stabilizing the poppet valve circuit by an orifice attached to the drain port. It is demonstrated that by introducing the drain orifice, the flow force acting on the poppet shows phase lead characteristics to the valve motion, which compensate forthe lag of the flow force and stabilizesthe motion. Then, a condition of the phase lead is derived and the stabilizing effect by the drain orifice is confirmed by numerical simulations and experiments.
