In addition the bands at 455 cm −1 and 945 cm −1 were detected attributable to the Si-Si TO vibrations [26] and to the SiOH group vibrations [27], respectively. Owing to the large surface area-to-volume ratio, the bare surface of the Si QDs are highly sensitive to the reactions with solvent molecules and thus the uncovered surface readily interacts with the surrounding ethanol resulting in the Si-O-C 2 H 5 formation as it was suggested by Mariotti et al [9].…”
