Investigation of a New Topology of Hybrid-Excited Flux-Switching Machine with Static Global Winding: Experiments and Modeling

Abstract: International audienceThis paper presents a new structure for a hybrid excitation, flux-switching synchronous machine. The particularity of this machine is its global excitation winding component that creates a 3D excitation flux path to control the global air gap flux. A 3D finite element analysis and a comparison with experimental results are both provided. This model makes it possible to: show the excitation flux path, explore the flux-regulation capability of a new structure, and identify the influence of … Show more

“…One of the topologies that attracted considerable research efforts is the hybrid excited flux-switching machine. Several hybrid excited flux-switching topologies have been investigated in the last years [16,[41][42][43][44][45]. The magnetic flux in flux-switching machines is of a 2D nature.…”

“…Neglecting the influence of the temperature, iron saturation, eddy-current loss and magnetic hysteresis loss, the AFSFPM machine is analyzed based on the rotor-fixed d-q reference frame, as in Figure 7. According to the axial switched-flux principle, the three-phase PM flux linkage and back-EMF waveforms, the continuous-time models of the AFSFPM machine in the rotor-fixed d-q reference frame are described by (11) to (12). Considering the current as state variable, the state-space equation of AFSFPM machine can be written as…”

“…Hybrid excited machines (HEMs) have been proposed to integrate the advantages of good flux regulating capability of EEMs and the high torque density of PM machines [11][12][13][14][15][16][17]. There are two kinds of excitation sources employed in HEMs, one is magnetic and the other is field current.…”
