Abstract:A water-soluble "NSO" complexing agent was designed for polonium(iv) decorporation. The bifunctional ligand showed outstanding Po(iv) complexing abilities, with a conditional stability constant three orders of magnitude higher than the reference ligand BAL.
“…The situation is much less clear regarding the chemical behavior of polonium species in solution. Notably, the complexation of the polonium(IV) ion with four distinct ligands has been recently studied by one of us . However, because of the lack of a firm argument concerning the identification of the starting species, to date only apparent constants have been defined from the speciation change studies (performed by monitoring the radioactivity distribution).…”

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
