Plant extracts and their derivatives are used by almost 80% of the world's population for the treatment of various infections and disorders. The current review was based on the chemical constituents, traditional uses and pharmacological properties of Madhuca longifolia. The Madhuca longifolia (Mahua) Symmachus indica is a huge deciduous tree native to Nepal, India, and Ceylon. It is also known as the Butter nut tree and is a member of the Sapotaceae family. The height of an M. longifolia tree can reach up to 70 feet. The fruiting period of the tree begins between the ages of 8 and 15, and can last up to 60 years. When ripe, the fruits have a greenish yellow colour and are oval in shape [4]. Sugars, vitamin A, ascorbic acid, thiamine, riboflavin, Ca, P, Fe, Mg, Cu, anthocyanins, betains, salts of malic and succinic acid, and many other vitamins and minerals can be found in flowers. It is the rich source of quercetin, 3-O-lrhamnosid, stigmasterol, n-hexacosanol, n-octacosanol, carotene, myricitin, erthrodiol, 3-caproxyolcan-12-en-28-ol, 3-galactoside and Xanthophylls. It was traditionally utilized in bronchitis, diabetes, rheumatism, haemorrhage, ulcer, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, and spongy gums etc. In conclusion, Madhuca longifolia is reported to be effective as antioxidant, analgesic, anti-pyretic, anti-inflammatory, immunosuppression, anti-ulcer, anti-hyperglycaemic, anti-neoplastic and anthelmintic.

Anxiety disorders are one of the most prevalent class of mental disorders in the general population. Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is a common anxiety disorder that comprises continuous and long-lasting worrying, tension, which making normal life problematic and relaxation impossible The prevalence rate of GAD disorder is increasing constantly in modern era. Though many different types of modern medications used currently to treat anxiety disorders provide temporary relief, they come with various side effects, Drug dependence and safety concerns. In Ayurveda the symptoms of this disease show resemblance with the condition. Cittodvega (excited state of mind) which is one among the Manovikara in Ayurveda caused by dysfunction of increased Vata and Pitta dosha. The present study was conducted as an Uncontrolled clinical trial to study the Efficacy of Drakshadi Phantam in 38 diagnosed participants of Generalized Anxiety Disorder with the age group 20–50 were administered with 100ml of Drakshadi Phantam twice daily before food continuously for a period of 45 days. Five assessments were done staring from 0th day of treatment to 60 the day of the study with a gap of 15 days, using Hamilton anxiety rating scale and Rajas Tams rating scale. The assessment scores of different intervals were statistically analysed using RM ANOVA. Effect of the therapy were statistically analysed in each domain of HAM – A rating scale in different intervals of the study. The therapy was found statistically significant in reducing the symptoms of GAD in all the 14 domains of the HAM- A Rating scale. Based on results it has been concluded that Drakshadi Phantam has statistically significant effect in reducing the symptoms of all the 14 domains of Hamilton anxiety rating scale and reducing the Rajasika and Tamasika qualities of the study participants.

The present study was carried out to investigate the protective effect of ethanolic extract of Madhuca latifolia (Roxb.) bark (MLE) and aqueous extract of Madhuca latifolia (Roxb.) bark (MLA) in aspirin-induced gastric ulcer. In both extract, acute toxicity performed according to guidelines for the selection of doses. The oral administration (400 mg/kg) of MLE & MLA extract reduced the ulcer index and prevents the development of gastric lesions by 76.57% and 81.14% (% of protection), respectively. The present studies provide preliminary data on the antiulcer potential of bark and support the traditional uses of the plant for the treatment of gastric ulcer. Phytochemical values of the plant include the presence of triterpenoids in fruit pulp; betasitosterol glucoside, quercetin, and dihydroquercetin in a nutshell; sugars, vitamins, phosphorus, calcium, iron, magnesium, and copper present in corolla.
