Teaching English to secondary students needs to be considered in order to formulate their learning levels and their needs. This is crucial in order for the learning process to be successful. However, as teaching English should be integrated into other language skills, the use of media which is mostly helpful for particular skills sometimes can be time consuming, and not all teachers are able to prepare and use it in their classes. Thus, a teacher has no time to practice one of the skills sufficiently using particular media to support the learning process. Listening skills for instance, technology in which nowadays has been developed to facilitate students to improve their listening skills is better to be used by English teachers in order to find suitable listening sources. Thus, a research question of how is the significance of BBC Learning English to be used in teaching listening skills in secondary students was tried to be endeavored. Hence, a quantitative method was used in this research. It was found that BBC learning English is significant to be used in English classes of secondary school. Moreover, the questionnaire that students filled out showed that their motivation and enthusiasm revealed a positive response. Listening is a critical ability to have, not only because of the time it takes in interactions but also because of its role in daily life. This study has been designed to explore the use of digital audio in promoting listening proficiency. Further research is required to determine how this position affects speakers of Indonesian who are learning English as a foreign language (EFL). A comparative study served as the foundation for this study's design. In this study, the research participants were at the upper secondary level, and their listening ability was examined in relation to the effects of digital audio (online podcasting on Spotify). Sixty students were involved in the study based on their performance on the placement test. Findings from the post-test showed that the group exposed to digital audio experienced an increase in their listening proficiency level, while the group not exposed to digital audio showed a little improvement in their proficiency level. By looking at the N-gain of their results, the group whose participants were not taught using active listening had an N-gain of 0.62, while the improvement of the second group resulted in an N-gain of 0.76, indicating that the group increased their listening proficiency level. The findings of this study showed that, with a result of 0.0235, there was no significant difference between the two teaching groups, where the significant value was greater than 0.005. claiming that while there is some difference between the two methods, it is not very much, and that both improve listening skills.

As the usage of ICT in teaching and learning, digital literacy becomes well-liked for Indonesian English department and non-English department students from Jakarta and Central Java. This research is to investigate both the students’ listening comprehension and their insight into educational videos for improving their listening skills. The objectives are: 1) finding out the students listening comprehension through watching VOA Learning English, 2) obtaining the students' perception of listening to English?, 3) exploring students' preferences to listen through video?, 4) investigating the listening media and topic the students like to listen to?, 5) probing the students' familiarity with VOA Learning English? This research was a comparative study including descriptive statistics. The questionnaire results revealed that the students from the two campuses shared similarities and differences in their preferences to increase their listening skills through video. The students of the English department and non-English department listening comprehension were categorized as fair since most of them reached scores between seventy and eighty. The majority of both English department and non-English department students like to listening English. However, they prefer watching a video in the form of a combination between monolog and dialog. They were enjoy the song for improving their listening skill. They also commit that the VOA video was interesting since it was designed to help them in developing their English skills daily. Likewise, such videos performed native speakers as role models which are favored by English department and non-English department students. Besides, they like to receive the questions after the video ends.
