“…Low back pain [46,47,51,[377][378][379][380], foot pain [72,381,382], knee pain [69,383,384], hip pain [71,385], shoulder pain [386], musculoskeletal pain [60,[387][388][389], headache/ migraine [74,76,[390][391][392][393][394], neuropathic pain caused by nerve injuries and diabetic neuropathy [395][396][397][398], and fibromyalgia [399,400], were reported in overweight/obese subjects. These findings suggest that overweight/obesity, which, as mentioned before, is characterized by excess accumulation of adipose tissue, may trigger pathological pain development, both neuropathic and nociplastic.…”

“…In addition, I found a correlation between increasing age and increasing DRA grade (Graph 1), and as BMI increased, DRA grade went up as well (Graph 2). 4 In my series, 47% of DRA patients were slim, normalweight or overweight and they did not require abdominoplasty combined with "SM" repair, as in the remaining 53% of DRA patients who were obese. In my experience, this means that a large group of DRA patients can only be treated with laparoscopy to reduce their cosmetic and functional issue due to DRA and associated umbilical hernia.…”

“…2 However, DRA may also affect 33% of mothers after pregnancy, 2 increasing progressively after subsequent pregnancies and worsening over the years, especially when DRA is associated with obesity. 4 In addition to being female, pregnant and obese, 2,4 other contributing factors for DRA onset are being an over 50-year-old postmenopausal woman 5 , congenital transmission, 6 multiple pregnancies, 7 having had a caesarean section and a twin pregnancy, 8 natural childbirths at a late age, heavy physical occupational work, overly strenuous and intense physical activity, e.g., body-building.…”

“…This condition is often visible as bulging of the midline of the stomach while performing specific movements. It develops above, below, or at the umbilicus, or anywhere along the length of the linea alba [ 24 , 25 , 26 ]. Figure 4 represents diastasis recti at different locations along the linea alba.…”
