The integration of gifted learners into STEM education has raised two key issues: providing suitable learning experiences for them and utilising their potential to contribute to the ultimate goals of STEM education. Hence, research in this area is essential for both researchers and practitioners in gifted education. The purpose of this study was to examine pertinent trends in recent years as revealed by the bibliometric analysis of published studies on STEM in gifted education. A total of 170 publications on gifted and STEM education obtained from Web of Science and Scopus databases were examined. The PRISMA model was used for data collection. RStudio was employed for data analysis. The results of the study revealed that 59 different journals, 170 articles, and 332 authors had contributed to the field of STEM in gifted education. The most frequently used keywords in research in both databases were "STEM", "gifted students", "gifted education", and "talent development". The most productive journals on STEM-related studies in gifted education were Rooper Review and Gifted Child Quarterly. The most relevant authors were C. June Maker and Paula Olszewski-Kubilius. The most productive institutions were the Northwestern University and the University of North Texas. Trending topics have evolved from gender differences to enrichment and science mathematically focused subjects, and then technology and engineering focused stem and talent development.

In view of the tendency for gifted learners to experience disinterest in commonplace concepts and oversimplified explanations, coupled with their inclination towards intellectually challenging learning materials, this study aims to how science teachers respond to these unique learning needs by means of multimodal representations. To do this, the study investigated the difficulty level of these representations with regard to intersemiotic relations. The present study is a qualitative research including Systemic Functional Multimodal Discourse Analysis (SF-MDA). Data obtained from multimodal representations -318 representations from all different grades (5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th)- were analyzed according to the analytical framework which developed in this study regarding the SF-MDA approach. Results showed that teachers generally use primitive forms of multimodal representations. The number of advanced forms of multimodal representations is minimal. It was concluded that there is a requirement to arrange teacher training programmes in order to equip teachers with the necessary knowledge and skills about choosing and designing the upper level of multimodal representations in order for they meet instructional needs of gifted students.

STEM, an educational model, equips gifted students with essential skills to foster creative problem-solving. The aim of this study was to capture the STEM-related landscape in high schools. The method used is bibliometric analysis. The data retrieved comes from the database Scopus. The results show that STEM-related publications in high schools continue to increase every year, especially from 2016 to 2021. Publications in 2011 have cited more than 160 citations, this number is more than any other year. Indonesia is the most influential country in this field. The focus of research related to this field is 1) outcomes and motivation; 2) critical thinking and 21st century; 3) problems and development. The new theme for this field is critical thinking, 21st century, project-based learning (PjBL), covid and perception. Keywords that become new themes such as critical thinking not yet connected directly with keywords with other new themes such as perception. Keywords that were the primary focus, such as motivation, outcomes, and STEM in high schools, did not directly align with the emerging theme of Covid. This novelty offers valuable insights for future research.
