Inversion of K3C60 reflectance data

Abstract: We outline a procedure for obtaining the electron-phonon spectral density by inversion of optical conductivity data, a process very similar in spirit to the McMillan-Rowell inversion of tunelling data. We assume both electron-impurity (elastic) and electron-phonon (inelastic) scattering processes. This procedure has the advantage that it can be utilized in the normal state. Furthermore, a very good qualitative result can be obtained explicitly, without iteration. We illustrate this technique on recently acquir… Show more

“…It is known that the electron-phonon spectral density α 2 F (ω) can be obtained through inversion of optical data. Marsiglio et al 60 introduced a dimensionless function W (ω) which is defined as the second derivative of the normal state optical scattering rate…”

“…20,21 Unfortunately, the extraction of the spectral functions from these experiments, for a variety of reasons, is technically much more challenging than from tunneling data. Therefore, the main experimental tool for the determination of the EPI in superconductors so far is the tunneling measurement.…”

“…The initial calculations conducted with the use of the Eliashberg equations indicate that in the case of K 3 C 60 the electron-phonon interaction can independently induce the superconducting phase [16]. According to that, the precise calculation of the basic thermodynamic parameters seems to be an essential matter.…”
