Inverse Problem of Elasticity for a Plate Weakened by Hole and Cracks

Abstract: An isotropic elastic plate weakened by a hole and arbitrary system of cracks is considered. Using the principle of equal strength and minimization of stress intensity factors a theoretical analysis is made of the equistrong hole shape. A criterion and a method for solving the inverse problem of fracture prevention for the plate with a hole under the action of given system of external loads are proposed.
