Invasive Solidago canadensis L. as a resource of valuable biological compounds

Abstract: The phytochemical characteristics of alien species have not yet been fully studied. Meanwhile, the reserves of their raw materials in the secondary distribution range are very large and can be used as new sources of functional ingredients for food, nutraceuticals, cosmeceuticals, and medicines. Particular attention is attracted by species which have closely related native plants that are included in the official pharmacopeia. Solidago canadensis L. in Slovakia has already formed powerful thickets, and a simila… Show more

“…According to the literature, DPPH has an absorption maximum at a wavelength of 514-517 nm (Ivanišová et al, 2017;Shelepova al., 2019;Vergun et al, 2019Grygorieva et al, 2020;Hu et al, 2020;Tvrdá et al, 2020). Reducing a colour intensity of a reaction mixture is carried out by various authors at the time range of 4-15 minutes to 1 hour (Sheng et al, 2011;Mocan et al, 2014;Hu et al, 2020).…”

“…(Krishnaiah et al, 2011). 92,56 (Calendula officinalis L.) % (Sytar et al, 2018).…”

(Shelepova et al, 2019;Vinogradova et al, 2019 a,b).…”

“…Solidago canadensis concurrently displays several biologically valuable features-its biomass contains proteins, lipids, saccharides, vitamin C, carotenoids, and amino acids, which indicates that it could be a source of valuable products for the bioeconomy [23]. As the major compounds of its essential oil, monoterpenes, such as α-pinene, β-pinene, bornyl acetate, camphene, limonene and thymol, terpene β-elemene, and sesquiterepenes, such as βgurjunene, δ-cadinene, germacrene D, and longifolene, were determined [24][25][26].…”
