Invasion characteristics of oral tongue cancer

Abstract: Background This study explored the blood transfusion patterns, SCD complications, utilization of iron chelation therapies (ICT), healthcare resource use, and costs in pediatric, transitioning (18 years old) and adult patients with SCD. Procedure Data from Florida (1998–2009), New Jersey (1996–2009), Missouri (1997–2010), Kansas (2001–2009), and Iowa (1998–2010) state Medicaid were used. Patients with ≥2 SCD diagnoses and ≥1 transfusion event were included. Rates of transfusion events, SCD complications, and pr… Show more

“…PNI has been reported to be associated with cancer outcomes in various types of cancer (8)(9)(10)(11), including HNSCC (19-21) and OTSCC (20,27,28,30,43,48,50), but the findings in OTSCC are not unanimous (25,26,31,32,44,46). Nevertheless, when synthesized using the meta-analysis methodology, these conflicting studies support that PNI is associated with locoregional recurrence and poor OS, DFS, and CSS.…”

“…The presence of PNI was associated with a higher risk of local locoregional recurrence in the non-adjusted (HR=2.46, 95%CI: 1.59-3.79, P<0.001, I 2 = 0.0%, P heterogeneity =0.661) but not in the adjusted (HR=1.93, 95%CI: 0.83-4.49, P=0.126, I 2 = 64.0%, P h e t e r o g e n e i ty =0.096) analyses (Figure 2B). The presence of PNI was reported with a worse OS (20,27,30,47,48) in the adjusted analysis (HR=1.94, 95%CI: 1.39-2.72, P<0.001, I 2 = 0.0%, P heterogeneity =0.838) but not in the nonadjusted ones (25, 30, 32) (HR=1.65, 95%CI: 0.94-2.90, P=0.079, I 2 = 65.5%, P heterogeneity =0.055) (Figure 3 and Table 2).…”

“…Since the 5-year survival rate is less than 20% in patients with OSCC with metastasis to the regional lymph nodes 31 - 34 , tumoral metastasis is a significant prognostic factor. However, there currently is no critical marker for diagnostic/therapeutic targets for patients with OSCC with metastatic lesion(s).…”
