Intuitionistic fuzzy model for reliability management in wind turbine system

Abstract: A flexible model which is based on a Triangular intuitionistic flexibility ranking and aggregating (TIFRA) operator is proposed for failure detection and reliability management in a Wind Turbine system. The model which is employed when there are limited research data and valid source of information, uses expert-based knowledge/opinion for failure detection and reliability management. The results from the study concludes that, the most important area affected by failure with respect to the failure criteria used… Show more

“…In developing countries such as China, low-cost wind power generation has been studied. In summary, wind farm performance is ranked with the AHP method (Lee et al, 2009) [10]; meanwhile, to remove ambiguity in critical situations for decision-makers in their analysis of windmill alternatives, fuzzy set theory, Intuitionistic fuzzy set theory, and Interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy set theory are used (Onar et al, 2015) [11] (Aikhude, 2018) [12].…”

“…A key requirement of reliability management in wind turbines is the task of a prior detection of failures. This is necessary to ensure reliable continuous operation and maintenance of wind turbine machine systems (Kusiak & Li, 2011;Aikhuele & Turan, 2016, 2018. A priori failure detection in wind turbine is a prerequisite for ensuring failure prediction maintenance (Nivedh, 2014).…”

“…Fault estimation and failure detection can be described as a decision-making process in many fields of discipline, this includes engineering (Aikhuele, 2018;Su & Hu, 2018). Fault and failure detection, therefore, provides advanced information about a system; this process helps in the identification and description of the intensity of a system behavior.…”

“…Due to the fact that different power electronic devices have different failure rates, the MTTF of a converter must be calculated based on a static value. As reported in literature, the reliability of a component is associated with uncertainties that originate from manufacturing technology, design uncertainty and lack of sufficient knowledge of physics of failure [25][26][27]. Regarding the mentioned fact and knowing that the failure rates of components and fault-coverage-mechanism probability are not pre-defined values, fuzzy-based reliability analysis can be a suitable technique in common systems architecture [28][29][30][31].…”
