Introduction to the Special Issue “Skeletal Muscle Atrophy: Mechanisms at a Cellular Level”

Abstract: Skeletal muscle is the most abundant tissue in the body and requires high levels of energy to function properly. Skeletal muscle allows voluntary movement and body posture, which require different types of fiber, innervation, energy, and metabolism.
