Gilles Deleuze, imaj mantığını her dönemin kendine özgü düşünce imajını yaratarak, kendisini düşündüğü teknolojik otomatlar olarak tasvir eder. Felsefe ise üretilen sırası geldiğinde bu imajları düşünce-göstergeler olarak haritalandırabilir. Dolayısıyla imaj, en geniş anlamda tarihsel biçimde belirlenen sinematik uygulamaları, “ruhsal otomatlar” veya “düşünce makineler” olarak tanımlanır. Bu açıdan bir dönemin düşünce imajı, kendisine verdiği düşüncenin anlamıdır. Sinemaya büyük önem veren filozof, sinema ve felsefe ilişkisini ortaya çıkarırken, bir dönemin göstergeler ve imajlar olarak temsil edilen düşünme biçimlerini ele alır ve felsefi kavramlara dönüştürür. Filozofun sinema üzerine yazdığı iki ciltten oluşan Sinema 1: Hareket-İmge ve Sinema 2: Zaman-İmge adlı eserleri, sinemanın kendine has araçlarıyla değerlendirildiği önemli yapıtlardır. Deleuze, İkinci Dünya Savaşından önce yapılan filmleri hareket-imaj; savaştan sonraki filmleri ise zaman-imaj olarak değerlendirir. Çalışma kapsamında Christopher Nolan’ın başta Follow (Takip, 1998), Memento (Akıl Defteri, 2000), Prestige (Prestij, 2006), The Dark Knight (Kara Şövalye, 2008), Inception (Başlangıç, 2010), Interstellar (Yıldızlararası, 2014), Tenet (Tenet, 2020) olmak üzere filmlerinde düşüncenin sinematografik araçlarla nasıl kurulduğu Deleuzyen anlamda hareket imajın krize girdiği noktalardan yola çıkarak irdelenecektir.
