This article examines art collectives in Venice that use their artistic and cultural projects to act as public entrepreneurs seeking to improve urban welfare and elicit social change for reasons of societal betterment. These ventures are developed against a backdrop of ongoing socio-economic challenges arising from exploitative tourism in the city. Interviews with some art collective members revealed that: (1) their local rootedness is shaped by issues of gentrification and a search for a city that benefits all; (2) their core values are translated into artistic propositions addressing local demands and institutional voids and (3) their private goals have a public-service background. Our study unveils a unique type of entrepreneur that mediates local demands but has no significant impact at the policy level, thus only scratching the surface of institutional change. This insight contributes to our understanding of artists as public entrepreneurs who, despite their use of activist language channelling public demands, are constrained by the very institutional voids they seek to close.

Belonging is a critical factor for supporting student success and well-being in school. Unfortunately, the work of fostering belonging at school for all students continues to face significant challenges. One reason is that the field of education is working from a limited conception of school belonging, based mainly in the discipline of psychology. Belonging is more than just a psychological sense—it is also a social, cultural, and even political process. In this article, Paul Kuttner explores six aspects of belonging that are underemphasized in the school belonging literature, arguing that we should think of school belonging as agentic, intersectional, systemic, political, place-based, and a right. Kuttner proposes a definition of belonging that encompasses these aspects and uses it to suggest future directions for research and practice.

This study aims to compare the concept of place creation and place attachment in Denpasar City, Bali. In the context of rapid urbanization, urban development is becoming increasingly important in maintaining cultural identity and environmental sustainability. The main problem in this study is the difference in understanding and implementation of the concept of place creation and the level of place attachment by communities that focus on rural and urban urbanization. The urgency of the research lies in the need to understand Denpasar City as a center of cultural and tourism activities, blending urban growth with cultural and environmental preservation. The analysis was carried out on a review of government archives in the form of narratives, observations of service use, purchase of goods and vehicle movements, as well as examination of physical and spatial components. The results showed variations in people's perceptions of the concept of place creation, focusing on cultural and environmental preservation. In addition, the degree of attachment to places is related to the active participation of the community in the preservation of the cultural and environmental heritage of the city. This research reveals the importance of integrating people's aspirations in urban planning as well as promoting cultural and environmental sustainability as an integral part of the development of a better Denpasar City.
