There are symptoms of diglossia leakage in the multilingual community in the tourist area of Pangandaran Regency. The symptom is recorded in speech in the family domain. This study used a sociolinguistic theoretical approach involving one hundred respondents from the Pangandaran Regency community. This study used data on respondents' attitudes towards language selection and use based on occupational social strata, namely civil and non-civil servants. Using qualitative research methods, namely ethnographic qualitative methods, the study shows that Indonesian as a high variety in speech in the community is identified as a low variety. Most of the people in Pangandaran Regency argue that using Indonesian as a high variety in the family room has become the focus. This situation is supported by a group of adults who choose Indonesian as the primary means of communication in the family room. This is done to balance the speech of a group of younger people who use Indonesian. This phenomenon can have a great potential to override the existence of local languages as a low variety that should be used in a familiar space. These findings indicate a need for socialization related to the function of language use in a multilingual society, especially in tourist areas.

This research paper examines the complex interplay between language, feminism and social expectations through the sociolinguistic analysis of “TED talk ‘We Should All Be Feminists’ by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie,” taken as a sample. The dialogues used in the talk were transcribed. The study explores the use of the Nigerian English dialect in Adichie’s talk, highlighting its cultural authenticity and the effect of language on propagating feminist ideals. Through descriptive and qualitative methodology, the study challenges conventional gender norms expressed in the speech, shedding light on social variables such as language use, culture, power dynamics and gender inequality. Besides this, the paper focuses on reshaping social expectations and abandoning gender discrimination. It contributes significant insights into gender studies and linguistics, underscoring the vitality of language in social progress and in shaping feminist discourse. Hence, comprehending the power of language to shape perspectives enables one to foster inclusivity and challenge biases. Therefore, this study is crucial for advocating social change and empowering individuals to reshape and challenge entrenched gender norms. Overall, this research highlights universal issues of social justice and gender stereotypes. It ensures solidarity in the struggle for gender equality globally by examining the intersection of feminism, language and culture.

Sociolinguistics Analysis on Language Style in Niki Songs

Sociolinguistics enables us to comprehend how the language reflect and even shape evolving relationships and ways of interaction in a society. This study is focusses on the language style used on Niki songs. The aim of this study is to find out the differences and similarities of the language style used in “Backburner” and “Anaheim” songs, and to determine the most dominating type of language style used based on Martin Joos’ theory. A descriptive qualitative research technique was used to analyze the data in this study. The data being examined is from Niki’s songs. The result of the study showed three language styles are utilized in "Backburner" out of a total of 28 data points: consultative style (9 data, 32%), casual style (12 data, 43%), and intimate style (7 data, 25%). On the other hand, there are three language styles utilized in "Anaheim" out of a total of 35 data: consultative style (11 data, 31.5%), informal style (11 data, 31.5%), and intimate style (13 data, 37.5%). Furthermore, the most dominating style employed in "Backburner" is casual, while "Anaheim" is intimate, and both songs have an overall informal style.
