ResumenLa espiritualidad puede entenderse como un conjunto de sentimientos, creencias y acciones que suponen una búsqueda de lo trascendente, sagrado o divino. En tanto representaciones acerca de un poder final último, contribuyen a dar un sentido y propósito en la vida, y orientan la conducta de las personas, sus relaciones interpersonales y su forma de sentir y de pensar, tanto a la realidad como a sí mismos.Dado que tanto en el proceso de envejecer como en la evaluación de la vida que suele ocurrir al aproximarse a la muerte, pueden surgir conflictos, confusión y sufrimiento, la concepción que las personas tengan acerca de lo que hay más allá de la muerte, o las respuestas que se hayan dado a las preguntas de por qué y para qué de la vida, resultan determinantes en el bienestar psíquico de los adultos mayores.Si además se considera que la expectativa de vida ha aumentado considerablemente, y está cambiando la manera de envejecer, en qué consiste ser viejo, y las ventajas y desventajas o problemas de este proceso en sus distintos contextos, es necesario repensar la vejez, tanto como etapa de vida, como en las políticas que afectan la calidad y condiciones de vida de este sector de la población.Por lo tanto, se puede sostener que todo profesional que trabaja con adultos mayores, y en particular los profesionales de la salud mental, deben poder considerar los referentes espirituales del propio individuo para ayudarlo de buena forma con los problemas que puedan surgir en el proceso de envejecimiento.Palabras clave: espiritualidad, tercera edad, bienestar psíquico. AbstractSpirituality may be understood as a group of feelings, beliefs and actions that suppose a search for the transcendent, sacred or divine. As representations about an ultimate power, they contribute to the sense and purpose in life and orient peoples behavior, relationships, and ways to feel and think about reality and about themselves.Since either in the growing old process and in the evaluation of life that occurs when approaching to death it may emerge conflicts, confusion and suffering, people beliefs about what is beyond death, or the answers to the questions about what for and why of life, become determinants in elders well-being.

The goal lies in understanding the nurse−aged person interaction process. This is a naturalistic study of qualitative paradigm and inductive reasoning, developed in the context of primary health care. We observed the interaction process between nurse and older person in various Health Centers and Day/Socializing Centers and supplemented the information with an interview. The grounded theory analysis method of Corbin & Strauss was used, which provides the triangulation of data and uses theoretical sampling. The nurse−aged person interaction is established in a joint process of recreation of the gerontologic care predisposing, fostering and strengthening knowledge about the essence of life. The elderly person who is the object of nurse care, builds their lived experience by aiming towards integrity, establishing individual and social interaction and enhancing experiences. From this whole interaction process, a central concept emerges: clarification of the aged person's lived experience.Keywords: Successful aging, nurse, aged person. ResumoCom o envelhecimento demográfico e o natural aumento dos cuidados de enfermagem no âmbito gerontológico surge o interesse em responder como é que o enfermeiro interage com a pessoa idosa para que esta utilize a sua essência evidenciando comportamentos protetores e promotores de envelhecimento bem-sucedido? E ao objetivo: compreender o processo da interação enfermeiro-pessoa idosa que conduz à utilização de comportamentos protetores e promotores de envelhecimento bem-sucedido. Trata-se de um estudo naturalista de paradigma qualitativo, de pensamento indutivo, desenvolvido num contexto de cuidados de saúde primários. Observámos o processo de interação entre enfermeiro-pessoa idosa num Agrupamento de Centros de Saúde e em Centros de Dia/Convívio e completámos a informação com entrevista. Utilizámos o método de análise grounded theory segundo Corbin & Strauss [1] que prevê a triangulação de dados bem como o recurso a amostragem teórica. A interação enfermeiro-pessoa idosa estabelece-se num processo conjunto de recriação do cuidado gerontológico predispondo, favorecendo e reforçando o conhecimento sobre o cerne da vida. A pessoa idosa objeto de cuidados do enfermeiro vai construindo o seu vivido caminhando para a integridade, estabelecendo interação individual e social e intensificando vivências. Aging is a process of deterioration of physiological functions, time-dependent, leading to homeoestenosis. The causes and mechanisms of this process are not yet fully clarified so have issued numerous theories to explain it.The article reviews the major theories of human aging, while proposing a classification that covers the fundamental mechanisms, including deregulation of the immune response (oxy-inflamm-aging) as one of the most cited today.The theories also include those relating to the psychosocial aspects of aging, taking a holistic approach to this biological process of humans.
