Introducing MRAC-PSS-VI to Increase Small-Signal Stability of the Power System after Wind Power Integration

Abstract: With the gradual increase of wind power penetration in the power system, the impact of wind farm on system stability is becoming more significant. This study designs the power system stabilizer (PSS) based on the model reference adaptive control (MRAC) method and virtual impedance (VI) control strategy. Then, the active power difference of the doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) is selected as input signal of MRAC-PSS-VI. The small-signal stability of the power system with the DFIG is enhanced by installing … Show more

“…Due to some issues such as environmental pollution, concerns about the consumption of fossil fuel resources, and the reduction of energy costs, signifcant eforts have been made to develop clean and renewable energy resources such as wind power over the last three decades [1,2]. It is expected that in the future, renewable energies such as wind and sun will provide a signifcant amount of electrical energy for the consumers [3,4]. As a clean and carbon-free renewable energy, wind is one of the most important energy sources on earth.…”
