Intrinsic Yellow Light Phosphor:  An Organic−Inorganic Hybrid Gallium Oxalatophosphate with Hexameric Octahedral Ga6(OH)4O26 Cluster

Abstract: Cluster. -The new intrinsic yellow phosphor (II) crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/m with Z = 4 (single crystal XRD). The structure contains octahedral Ga6(OH)4O26 hexamers which are interlinked to microporous octahedra-oxalate hybrid sheets. Each hexamer is also connected to 6 GaO4 and 10 PO4 tetrahedra to form 22-polyheral secondary building units, which are further connected to a three-dimensional hybrid framework with nm-sized channels. Under excitation over the broad range 360-500 nm (II) emit… Show more

“…Recently, the oxalate unit cross-link the inorganic parts and act as a bridge in the phosphate-oxalates giving rise to a new family of inorganic/organic hybrid materials [14][15][16]. Large numbers of template-directed metal phosphate-oxalates have recently been prepared and characterized [17][18][19][20].…”

“…Wang and co-workers successfully synthesized two organic template-directed indium phosphite compounds |C 2 N 2 H 10 |[In(OH) 3 (HPO 3 )] [10] and |C 4 N 2 H 12 |[In 2 -(HPO 3 ) 3 (H 2 PO 3 ) 2 ] [11]. Subsequently, two indium phosphite compounds were reported by Liu et al [12,13].Recently, the oxalate unit cross-link the inorganic parts and act as a bridge in the phosphate-oxalates giving rise to a new family of inorganic/organic hybrid materials [14][15][16]. “…[5] Recently, we have discovered several organic-inorganic hybrid open-framework metal phosphates in the Ga and Zn systems free of activator elements or chromophores that establish a new category of color-conversion phosphor materials for light-emitting diodes (LEDs). [6] These new phosphor materials usually have a broader excitation range from the near-ultraviolet-to-visible region and possess tunable photoluminescence, [4a] which can greatly contribute to the availability of wider-range-wavelength-LED chips in commercial phosphor materials. To further explore the possibility of such unique intrinsic PL properties in phosphate-free MOF systems, we initiated a search of yttrium compounds due to their non-illuminant nature.…”

“…Stacks of yellow tabular crystals were obtained as a singlephase product with a yield of 66.4 % (based on Y). Crystal structure analysis showed the chemical formula [Y 5 (OH) 6 [9] Lattice water and organic contents were confirmed by thermogravimetric (TG)MS, elemental analysis, variable temperature (VT) powder (P)XRD, and NMR spectroscopy (see the Supporting Information). Inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES) analysis was performed on the Eudoped compound 1:Eu (see below).…”
