Intraventricular Dyssynchrony among patients with left bundle branch block

Abstract: Objective:To determine the frequency of intraventricular dyssynchrony among patients with left bundle branch block. Methods:The study was conducted at Hayatabad Medical Complex, Peshawar, from January, 2017 to July, 2017. All patients aged 18 years and above with Left Bundle Branch Block (LBBB) on ECG with or without heart failure were included in the study. Patients with valvular heart disease, predominant diastolic heart failure, acute coronary syndromes or coronary revascularization in last three months and … Show more

“…2,3 Doppler tissue imaging (DTI) is often used to evaluate cardiac function in the clinic by measuring blood flow velocity under the annulus. 4,5 This retrospective analysis investigated patients undergoing coronary angiography between June 2019 and December 2020. The purpose of the study was to determine the ability of Doppler tissue imaging technology to evaluate the right ventricular function of patients with CSFP, explore the characteristics of CSFP cardiac tissue ultrasound, and to provide a reference for the clinical prevention and treatment of CSFP.…”

“…the RV contracts before the LV [12], [70]. In addition, due to late-activation of the LV free wall with respect to the interventricular septum activation, an intraventricular dyssynchrony occurs in the LV, i.e., the interventricular septum contracts before the LV free wall [13]. A dyssynchronyzed ventricular contraction reduces the efficiency of each heartbeat due to a reduction in the normal pumping capacity of the heart [71].…”

“…HF patients who suffer LBBB present a delay in the LV activation that leads to an interventricular dyssynchrony [12]. Similarly, an early activation of the interventricular septum with respect to the LV free wall produces a LV intraventricular dyssynchrony [13]. The combined effect of these two electrical disorders causes an uncoordinated contraction of the ventricles, reducing the efficiency of the heart to pump blood.…”
