Abstract: Extracellular protein nanoparticles (PNs) and ions perform synergistical functions in the control of transmembrane osmotic pressure (OP) under isotonic conditions. Intravenous injection may disrupt the ion balance and alter PN levels in blood plasma, changing transmembrane OP and damaging vascular endothelial cells.
