“…This high mutation rate, as indicated by this hypothesis that many 16S rRNA sequences which are highly conserved in Eubacteria are absent in Mycoplasmas (Rogser et al, 1985). Spontaneous mutations may occur when a lineage remains in the same flocks for long periods (Buim et al, 2010). The information of bacterial ribosomal RNA has been organised in operons.…”

“…Mycoplasmas, in general, show a more rapid evolutionary rate than other bacteria, which is reflected in variations of otherwise conserved nucleotides in Mycoplasma 16S rRNA (Weisburg et al, 1989). Buim et al (2010) showed different polymorphic patterns as polymorphisms and differences in nucleotides among some samples and genetic variability in strains from distinct Brazilian areas of poultry production. The results of this study support the findings of the previous report of phylogeny based on 16S rRNA gene which also showed the variations and differences in nucleotides and polymorphisms in M. synoviae 16S rRNA.…”

“…It is also important to establish whether the vaccine strain has colonised the respiratory mucosa so as to produce an efficient immune response to protect against wild-type disease. A number of PCR-based techniques have been reported for typing of M. synoviae strains, targeting the vlhA gene [4]-[7], 16S rRNA genes [8] or the 16S to 23S rRNA intergenic spacer region [9], [10]. Only a small number of these studies included the MS-H vaccine in their experiments.…”
