Intraoperative Use of Ultrasound for Identification of Acromioclavicular Joint During Shoulder Arthroscopy

Abstract: Identification of acromioclavicular (AC) joint during arthroscopic shoulder procedures might become difficult in some cases such as obese patients or patients with severe AC joint osteoarthritic degeneration. The ultrasound-guided placement of a spinal needle in the AC joint during shoulder arthroscopy can be useful to identify the AC joint. In this way, safety and accuracy could be improved in comparison with landmark-guided technique.
