Photodynamic diagnosis (PDD) using 5‐aminolevulinic acid (5‐ALA) has been used as an in vivo presurgical diagnostic tool for detecting occult tumor borders of ill‐defined basal cell carcinomas (BCCs), especially before Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS).
