“…Thumb temperature was an excellent indicator [3,8,9,14,17,27] of successful treatment of palmar hyperhidrosis when we performed a percutaneous T2 and T3 ganglionectomy and sympathectomy under local anesthesia by thermocoagulation [4]. In the present study, we noted a marked increase in thumb temperature: from 21.2 ± 0.6 to 36.0 ± 0.1°C, with a mean increase of 14.8°C, at room temperature 21.4 ± 0.6°C.…”

Our results differ from those in the literature [8,9,14,17] that show an increase in mean temperature between 2.8 and 5.3°C (mean 3.82°C) following lesioning of the sympathetic trunk at the T2 level. The difference may be attributable to the fact that these other studies used general anesthesia.…”

“…Some authors performed TG in patients with hyperhidrosis to control an effectiveness of SE (ref. 22,34,37 ). Rieger et al studied the skin on the feet and showed a clear average temperature increase of 2.8 °C (range 2.3 -4.2 °C) after SE on the one side, compared with the unoperated side 22 .…”

“…[25]). In the case of disorders within the face, many authors perform Th2 resection, often together with resection of 1/3 of the lower pole of the “stellate ganglion”.…”
