“…24 This differential diagnosis may be particularly difficult in histologic sections alone unless typical meningiomalike features, such as whorl formation, are present. Comparing the cytologic features between the 2 previously reported cases of chordoid meningioma 25,26 and the current case of chordoid glioma, on smear preparations they are strikingly similar with the exception of binucleation of tumor cells, which is uniquely seen in chordoid glioma. Tumor cells with delicate, relatively long fibrillary cytoplasmic processes, presumably reflecting the glial nature, were readily seen in our case; however, some long, cytoplasmic processes may be commonly seen in meningiomas not only on squash smear preparations (due to possible smearing artifact) but also on touch preparations since some fibroblastic tumor cells are usually present in meningiomas.…”

“…Because of the prominent mucinous elements and papillary fronds, mixopapillary ependymoma may mimic other myxoid or papillary tumours cytological [5][6][7][18][19][20]. These help to distinguish it from other chondrogenic tumours and metastatic mucous-producing carcinoma [6][7][8][9].…”
