Intracranial Dysgerminomas

Abstract: SUMMARY:We have reported three cases of intracranial dysgerminoma. The origin of these tumors has been controversial for a long time. It is now accepted that they develop from germ cells. The diagnosis is often difficult to confirm because of the variety of signs. If their origin is now accepted, the best way to deal with these lesions is still controversial. “…1 Germinomas, a type of germ cell tumor, have been reported in the pineal gland, hypothalamus, and neurohypophysis in the central nervous system (CNS). 2 The spinal cord is a rare site for a germinoma; only nine cases of spinal cord germinoma have been reported previously. [3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11] An epidemiological study showed that the incidence of germ cell tumors in the CNS is higher in Japan than other countries.…”
