Intracranial aneurysm risk factor genes: relationship with intracranial aneurysm risk in a Chinese Han population

Abstract: ABSTRACT. Few studies have examined the genes related to risk factors that may contribute to intracranial aneurysms (IAs). This study in Chinese patients aimed to explore the relationship between IA and 28 gene loci, proven to be associated with risk factors for IA. We recruited 119 patients with aneurysms and 257 controls. Single factor and logistic regression models were used to analyze the association of IA and IA rupture with risk factors. Twenty-eight single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in 22 genes wer… Show more

“…There is effort to improve the assessment of risk for IA progression and rupture with clinical and radiographic features 12 and a molecular biology approach. 13,14 However, these new risk factors have to be tested in the ADPKD population to verify their utility in this particular group.…”

“…Moreover, the regulation of MYOCD on the progression of IA is targeted by miR-9 [50]. Thymocyte selection associated high mobility group box (TOX) gene polymorphisms may be associated with the formation of IA [51]. In the present study, MYOCD and TOX were the target genes for hsa-miR-6875-3p.…”

“…To the best of our knowledge, only one association study of rs11777927 and disease—intracranial aneurysm— has been reported33. The biological connections between TOX and AIWG are poorly understood, perhaps owing to the inflammatory responses mediated by immune cells, developmentally regulated by TOX gene, contributing to AIWG.…”
