“…The images in these case reports, as well as this report, show that pelvic echinococcosis, like hepatic echinococcosis, has a wide variety of ultrasonographic appearances. Previous reports have shown predominately cystic lesions, 4,8 hypoechoic solid lesions, 5,9 multilocular lesions with a few internal septa, 6 solid lesions, 7 multicystic lesions, 10 and lesions with unusual doublelayered or calcified walls. 5,6,8 None of these reports showed the multiseptate pattern in our patient, which can be classified as type III in the classification system of Gharbi et al 12 and type IIb in the classification system of Caremani et al 13 It is possible that our mass might have contained internal echoes if it had been scanned with a high-frequency endovaginal probe.…”
