Theoretical and empirical support for a variety of sentence completion tests are examined, Reasons for and consequences of, variations in construction, administration, scoring and interpretation are considered. Much of the variation is apparently gratuitous and has retarded the development of a systematic body of information relevant to any one test. Generally, the S-C has been found to be a valuable clinical and research instrument that compares favorably in economy and power with other available psychometric devices.
