Intra-arterial methotrexate chemotherapy and telecobalt therapy in cancer of the oral cavity and oropharynx

Abstract: This paper presents the results of a controlled therapeutic trial comparing the combination of intra‐arterial infusion chemotherapy and radiotherapy with radiotherapy alone in advanced (T4) cancers of the oral cavity and oropharynx. Tumor regression was far greater with the combination treatment: 40% compared to 10% with radiotherapy alone.
