Intestinal microflora of newborns with purulent-septic diseases

Abstract: The aim of our work was to study the characteristics of the intestinal microflora in newborns, depending on the premorbid background and the nature of the course of the purulent septic process. Under observation were 73 children aged 3 to 16 days, hospitalized in a specialized department for newborns of the children's hospital No. 7 in Kazan in 1979-1980. 19 children were admitted directly from maternity hospitals, 54 children from the pediatric area.

“…One approach is the intervention with either prebiotics, probiotics, or other commensal microbes that could be useful in restoring a protective microbiota composition and could thus serve as preventive medical therapy. Oral administration of probiotics together with beneficial prebiotics (i.e., in the form of synbiotics) could moderate the course of some dermatoses [123][124][125].…”

“…reported a reduction in bacillus abundance in individuals with acne, 13 whereas Volkova et al. observed an increase in its abundance 14 . Many studies investigating the relationship between gut microbiota and acne have utilized a case‐control study design, which makes it challenging to establish a clear causal relationship between the two.…”

“…observed an increase in its abundance. 14 Many studies investigating the relationship between gut microbiota and acne have utilized a case‐control study design, which makes it challenging to establish a clear causal relationship between the two. Observational studies are prone to the influence of various confounding factors, including but not limited to environmental factors, age, dietary habits, and lifestyle, which may have an impact on the results.…”
