Interviews and interviewing techniques.

Abstract

Each extract is identified first with the corpus from which it is drawn and second with the gender of the participant. The author (Anna Madill) is the interviewer unless otherwise stated. The three data corpora are as follows: quarry (interviews with residents living near an active stone quarry in rural England, research funded by the Minerals Industries Research Organisation), medic (interviews with medical students undertaking a year of study intercalating in psychology in a university in the North of England, research funded by the Higher Education Funding Council of England), and boundaries (interviews with counselors and psychotherapists in the United Kingdom on managing sexual boundaries in their professional practice, research funded by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).
