Interspecific comparisons of polytene chromosomes in the genus Parasarcophaga (Sarcophagidae: Diptera)

Abstract: A comparison of the polytene chromosomes of Parasarcophaga argyrostoma, P. rufi'cornis, P. misera and P. knabi, is presented. There is close resemblance in the banding patterns of the four species. Two independent paracentric inversions in chromosome arm I1R, a small paracentric inversion in chromosome arm II1R and a pericentric inversion in chromosome V were found to be fixed as interspecific differences.
