Abstract:Immunometabolism is an emerging field at the intersection of immunology and metabolism. Immune cell activation plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases and is integral for regeneration during cardiac injury. We currently possess a limited understanding of the processes governing metabolic interactions between immune cells and cardiomyocytes. The impact of this intercellular crosstalk can manifest as alterations to the steady state flux of metabolites and impact cardiac contractile f… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
