ÖZAmaç: Periferik vestibüler hastalıklarda oküler vestibüler uyarılmış miyojenik potansiyel (o-VEMP) ve video head impulse (v-HIT) test sonuçlarını kalorik test sonuçları ile karşılaştırmak. Vertigolu hastaların değerlendirilmesinde test sıralaması içim bir algoritma oluşturmak.Yöntemler: Baş dönmesi şikayeti ile müracaat eden hastaların tam bir kulak burun boğaz muayenesi yapıldıktan sonra hastaların videonistagmografi, o-VEMP ve v-HIT testlerinin yapılmış ve hepsinin temporal MR tetkikleri yapılmıştır. Odyovestibüler inceleme ve radyolojik gö-rüntüleme sonrasında santral patoloji düşünülen hastalar, benign paroksismal pozisyonel vertigosu olan hastalar ve vestibüler migren tanısı konulan hastalar ve planlanan test bataryasının uygulanamadığı hastalar çalışma dışı bırakılmıştır. Çalışmaya kriterleri sağlayan ilk 30 hasta dahil edilmiştir. Methods: All patients underwent an ENT physical examination, an MRI scan, videonystagmography, an o-VEMP test, and a v-HIT test. The patients who had central-type vertigo, PBBV, and vestibular migraine were excluded from the study. Overall, 30 patients were included in the study. Results

PURPOSE :The effect of the vestibular caloric stimulation with ice water on the autonomic nervous system was investigated using pulse oximetry. METHOD :Thirty-four healthy men and women were subject to a 2-minute vestibular caloric stimulation with ice water, and autonomic nervous activities (low frequency, high frequency, and total power) were measured before and after the vestibular caloric stimulation. Data were analyzed separately for men and women.RESULT : Low frequency, high frequency, and total power in the men and low frequency in the women were statistically significantly higher after vestibular caloric stimulation. High frequency and total power in the women were higher but not significantly different after vestibular caloric stimulation.CONCLUSION : Vestibular caloric stimulation with ice water increases autonomic nervous activities, with the variation being within the normal range. The test can be considered safe for use.

Abstract: Caloric testing reference values may vary according to each unit; the the cutoff point is defined based on local studies. Attention to the technique is essential to maximize test sensitivity.
